GB 38031 EV battery safety standard

动力电池安全强制性国标 GB 38031

Definition

China's mandatory safety standard for traction batteries. The 2020 version required a five-minute warning before fire or explosion; the 2025 revision, published in March 2025, demands no fire and no explosion plus smoke that does not harm occupants, and adds bottom-impact and post-fast-charge short-circuit tests. It applies to newly type-approved models from 1 July 2026 and to already-approved models from 1 July 2027.
